The Challenge
The client needed ten rapid doors of various sizes supplied and installed across their cold storage warehouse — and they needed them fast. With a lead time of just three weeks, there was no room for delays in manufacturing, delivery or installation.
The bigger challenge was the site itself. This was a fully functioning cold storage facility with trucks loading and unloading throughout the day. Shutting down docks or blocking access wasn’t an option: every hour of disruption meant delayed deliveries, stock sitting outside temperature-controlled zones, and knock-on effects for the client’s customers.
Tight timeframe: three weeks from order to completion
Multiple sizes: ten doors, each built to suit its opening [size range, e.g. 2.4 m x 2.4 m up to 6.0 m x 6.5 mm]
Live operations: installation had to fit around a busy truck schedule
Temperature integrity: cold chain had to be maintained throughout the works
The Solution
Focus Doors took on the project as a single supply-and-install package, giving the client one point of contact from order through to handover.
Fast-tracked manufacture: all ten doors were measured, specified and scheduled into production immediately so they arrived on site ready to install within the three-week window.
Install plan built around the dock schedule: we worked with the client’s operations team to map truck arrivals and departures, then sequenced each door into the quieter windows between loads.
One opening at a time: doors were installed progressively so the rest of the facility kept running, with every opening returned to service before the crew moved on.
Flexible crew hours: our installers adjusted start and finish times to suit the site staying out of the way during peak loading.
Cold chain protected: works were staged to minimise the time any opening was exposed, keeping temperature-controlled zones stable.
The Result
All ten rapid doors were supplied, installed and commissioned within the three-week lead time — without interrupting the client’s day-to-day operations. Trucks continued to load and unload on schedule throughout the project, and the facility kept trading as normal.
The new doors give the client faster cycle times at each opening, better temperature control and reduced energy loss, with less wait time for forklifts and staff moving between zones.
